Pressley Ridge Acquires New Pathways: Expanding Services for Youth Transitioning Out of Foster Care
Pressley Ridge is pleased to announce the acquisition of New Pathways, Inc. in Baltimore, MD to address the needs of youth transitioning out of foster care who are in need of independent living services, education, and career preparation for the next phase of their life.
“The union of Pressley Ridge and New Pathways creates efficiencies and added benefits to the communities we serve,” said Susanne Cole, Pressley Ridge President & CEO. “New Pathways will continue delivering their exceptional programs to at-risk youth, but now under the Pressley Ridge umbrella.”

New Pathways Expands to Prince George’s County

In what represents a major expansion at the request of the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services, New Pathways opened new offices and facilities in Greenbelt, Maryland. Our presence there will enable us to serve transitioning foster care and disconnected youth in Prince George’s County and throughout the greater Washington, DC area where the need is critical. Full services will be available to eligible youth. Referrals are currently being accepted by NP admissions coordinator, Christine Powers at: email@example.com.
On Tuesday, June 13th, New Pathways held its annual summer dinner at La Scala restaurant in Little Italy. NP board, staff, and young clients were all in attendance. It is tradition to honor the year’s Cross Family Scholarship winners at the event. This celebration did not disappoint. Five worthy graduates of our ILP program received the award this year. Congrats to all our high school graduates from our Pathfinders program. We had 12 senior Pathfinders graduate from 5 Baltimore County high schools this year. Of those, 11 will be attending either a 2 or 4-year college in the fall. One has become fully employed upon graduation. Congrats to all! Well done!
NP held its first in-house job fair on June 2 and it was a huge success! Congrats to Colleen Leary for putting it together and thanks to all the community businesses that participated.

New Pathways Students learn by serving others:
New Pathways students volunteer at My Sister’s Place Women’s Center. Our young clients help prepare, serve, and clean up during the lunch service. It is a great opportunity and learning experience for all.

New Pathways is assisting in the YouthREACH MD 2017 Youth Count Survey, being conducted from March 1st through April 15th. Data collected will be used to support legislation and funding for programs and services benefitting homeless youth. Stay tuned here for the insightful results.

New Pathways unveils new Pathways to Success board game: Designed as an interactive teaching tool, the one of a kind board game was presented to Clinical Services Manager, Keyandra Brisco the first week of the new year. Keyandra and other NP staff will use the tool at orientation meetings with the young NP clients as well as in the classroom. Who said learning had to be dull?

New Pathways Receives Second MOED Grant: The Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) displayed a vote of confidence in their continuing relationship with New Pathways when it awarded New Pathways a second grant in the amount of $137,500.00 to provide eligible Baltimore City youth with the necessary training and support to become certified in Warehouse Logistics. New Pathways Unveils Vibrant New Community & Training Center at Open House, June 14th, 2016. Over one hundred guests enjoyed themselves at the New Pathways Open House for the unveiling of their vibrant new Community & Training Center. Guests, which included staff, constituents, board members, partners, members of the business community, elected officials, and New Pathways youth enjoyed taking tours of the stimulating and colorful new space, partaking of the delicious catered food, and reveling in the accomplishments of New Pathways’ young clients who were honored that day. Special guest, County Councilwoman Kathy Bevins, made the day even more festivel by presenting New Pathways with a special proclamation congratulating New Pathways on the work it does on behalf of disconnected youth.
